1964 Seiko Mono Pusher Chronograph (Ref. 45899)

$ 2,650

The Seiko Mono Pusher Chronograph is a special piece of the brand’s legacy and represents Seiko’s very first chronograph watch. Designed alongside the Seiko World Time, both groundbreaking models were created to celebrate the 1964 Summer Olympics hosted in Japan, with the Mono Pusher Chronograph ref. 5719/45899 debuting in time for the event as Japan’s first-ever chronograph wristwatch.

Since the Seiko ref. 45899 is a monopusher-style chronograph, the single pusher at the 2 o’clock location is used to start, stop, and reset the chronograph feature. Additionally, since the chronograph itself consists of just a single, centrally-mounted seconds hand, the rotating bezel features a 60-minute scale, which can be used to track elapsed minutes. Powered by a manually wound, column wheel movement, the Seiko Mono Pusher Chronograph represents an important point in the historic Japanese watch manufacturer’s history, and it will forever stand out as the brand’s original chronograph.
