1980s LeJour Chronograph (Ref. 7750)

$ 3,650

Heuer manufactured LeJour chronographs under a private-label arrangement in the 1980s. Under the terms of the arrangement, Heuer manufactured an array of watches which LeJour then distributed; some, like the Heuer Pasadena and LeJour model 7750, used the exact same cases and movements. An instantly recognizable example of this day-date chronograph can be seen on the wrist of LT Pete "Maverick" Mitchell played by Tom Cruise in the hit movie "Top Gun" who is wearing a PVD-finish example made by Orfina and branded under Porsche design.

The Heuer and the other references like the LeJour 7750 used the Day-Date Chronograph Valjoux 7750 movement, which is one of the most respected movements with its many complications in a relatively compact package, and is also how the LeJour got its reference name. Each brand produced these references with stainless steel in two case finishes, the bead-blasted anti-reflective stainless steel and a black PVD variant which is the one seen on Maverick's wrist in Top Gun. Though it is far more common to see the sub-brand variants in the PVD finish than the bead-blasted stainless steel option. The case size is 40mm in diameter with a screw-down case back, mineral crystal, Internal tachymeter bezel, black dial with tritium luminous indexes, day, and date at the 3 o’clock position of the dial.
