1948 Omega Automatic Chronometer "Centenary" 18K YG (Ref. 2499) "Cal. 343" W/ Box

Omega is one of the most recognizable watch brands in the world, a status that has come thanks in part to names like Seamaster and Speedmaster. But the brand has a history and catalog that stretches far beyond those names, and watches like this ref. 2499 in 18K yellow gold are a great example that you don't need one of those line names on the dial to have a classic, beautiful, fantastic piece.

The Centenary was the first automatic chronometer created by Omega and was created in celebration of the brand's 100th anniversary, hence the Centenary namesake. There were two references released in very limited quantities, references 2500 and 2499, though it is generally understood that the ref. 2499 was produced in lower quantities than the ref. 2500. The model ended up being so successful that Omega started working on a successor to the Centenary almost immediately, which would later become the iconic Constellation model line.

CASE & BRACELET

The sophisticated and classic 18K yellow gold case remains in exceptionally well-preserved condition for its age, showing gentle signs of use with minimal evidence of previous polishing present. The case retains its original Omega branded crown. The case back features a lovely engraving that reads "B.G. Anderson, a token of many years of pleasant association, Norman M. Morris Corp, 1931-1950", with the original 18K hallmark fully present. The watch comes supplied on its original 2pc Omega brown alligator leather strap with the original 18K yellow gold tang buckle.

DIAL & HANDS

The original gold dial features an ornate set of markers a single Breguet numeral for the 12 o'clock marker and enameled printing and text. The dial itself is beautifully preserved and in exceptional condition, showing minimal aging and no notable damage. The original yellow gold dauphine hands and in excellent condition.

ACCESSORIES

The watch comes with its original inner and outer boxes. The watch was recently serviced and is keeping time, backed by a 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
