1935 Rolex Dress Watch (Ref. 2874) "Bucherer's"
Long before the invention of the sports watch or even the automatic winding movement, Rolex was still at the top of its game. Today, the Art Deco-era Rolex is by far one of the most underappreciated periods for the brand, however, this era is filled with beautiful creations consisting of compelling case shapes and intricate dial designs.
While there are several well-established and highly regarded Jewelry brands to come from Switzerland, Bucherer's has remained a well-respected sovereign industry pillar for its expansive offering of high-end Jewelry and diverse selection of luxury watch brands. Rolex and Bucherer's relationship is longstanding and paramount to the mutual success of both brands, and in 2023 Rolex purchased Bucherer's, forever solidifying the partnership between the two legacied companies.

CASE & BRACELET
The attractive and well-proportioned rectangular case maintains elegant dimensions and angles for a classic aesthetic that's suitable for daily wear. The case itself has been minimally polished as the original shape remains intact and the factory markings on the case back are still very thick. The fixed strap bars are original and in excellent condition. The crown is likely an early service replacement. The watch comes supplied on an "old-style" fold-over pig skin black strap, similar to what would have been originally paired with the watch.
DIAL & HANDS
The original dial is cobranded "Bucherer's" with an uber-Art Deco dial that offers an endearing vintage aesthetic, featuring several different material finishes that maximize the depth of the dial. The dial exhibits obvious aging expected for a non-waterproof watch of its age, however, the aging does not detract from the charisma of the watch. The radium-lumed numerals retain traces of lume, though it is mostly removed from the dial. The original blued steel radium-lumed hands are in lovely condition, under UV light inspection the minute hand displays some lume loss and the hour hand is fully intact.
ACCESSORIES
None. The watch was recently serviced and is keeping time perfectly, backed by a 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
