1954 Rolex Ladies Oyster Perpetual 18K YG (Ref. 6509) Cream Honeycomb “Stelline” Dial
While vintage Rolex is filled with coveted anomalies and rarities, a defining reason for collecting by many enthusiasts, certain variants rise above the rest as the most desirable. Vintage Rolex models bearing the “Stelline” dial hold a high standing within this category. “Stelline”, translating to “little stars” in Italian, is in reference to these cherished, beautiful, and charmingly unique dials which feature stars for the hour markers. The most well-known Stelline dials are fitted within the Rolex ref. 6062, a triple calendar moon phase reference outfitted with an Oyster case, however, several other references within the men’s 34mm-36mm case size range have been seen outfitted with the Stelline dial as well. These models rarely surface and are typically only seen available in the premier auctions where they achieve impressive numbers well into the 6-figure price points.
While “Stelline” dials are mostly seen in men’s size references, they almost never surface in women's models, and like many variants within vintage women’s Rolex models, there is a massive value proposition in comparison to the Men’s models. This ref. 6509 is cast in 18K yellow gold and remains in exceptional vintage condition, bearing one of the most exciting dials we’ve ever come across, a honeycomb-textured cream dial with “Stelline” markers at the 3 and 9 o’clock. In addition, this example bears a rare straight end piece Oyster bracelet also cast in 18K yellow gold.
