1983 Rolex Submariner (Ref. 5513) Mk. V Maxi Dial
The Rolex Submariner Reference 5513 is the embodiment of the classic dive watch. The 5513 is simple yet sophisticated and rugged The Ref. 5513 was first introduced in the 1962 and ceased production in late 1989. The Ref. 5513 is a purpose built dive watch that lacks the date function like other Rolex Submariner models. (eg. Ref. 1680.)
This specific 1983 Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513 is commonly referred to as the Maxi Mk V Dial. The Mk V dial is commonly seen in cases stamped in the 7 mil to 8 mil range. The features of the Maxi V Dial include the following:
- "Open 6's" in the feet first depth rating
- The word “SUBMARINER” written above the depth rating and is longer then the depth rating.
- The “=” sign in the depth rating is directly below the “A” in “SUBMARINER”
This specific 1983 Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513 is in fantastic condition. The lume plots and hands have achieved an ivory-like patina and the original insert is in stunning vintage condition. This would make a great daily driver and has the classic matte dial Rolex look and feel.

CASE & BRACELET
The recently polished case is sharp and thick. The era correct "fat font" insert is in stunning condition showing minimal wear. The Rolex 95150 bracelet w/ 580 end pieces is in excellent unpolished condition showing almost no wear and has slight stretch from use.
DIAL & HANDS
The original matte black Maxi Mk V dial is in immaculate and in untouched condition. The lume plots are creamy in coloration and lume is fully intact when inspected under UV light. The tritium hands have aged slightly darker than the dial and remain fully intact, but exhibit some cracking in the second and hour hand
ACCESSORIES
None. The watch was recently serviced and is running at COSC spec backed by a 1-year warranty on accuracy of timekeeping.
