1950s Vulcain Cricket Calendar Waterproof (Ref. S1511A) "Gold Cap"
Introduced to the world in New York City in 1947, the Vulcain Cricket was not only one of the first wristwatches fitted with an alarm but also a near-instant sensation. Given to almost every American President from Truman to Biden, the watch gained the title "Watch of Presidents". Some even claimed it to be the only mechanical alarm watch that could wake them up. Eventually, Vulcain decided to make a good thing better and they began adding complications to the already complex Cricket. Enter, the Cricket Calendar Waterproof.

CASE & BRACELET
The 34-millimeter case is gold-capped and glorious. Far more often found in steel, the warmth of the gold color is absolutely stunning on this Cricket. The watch features a large crown and a pusher for the alarm, both also gold-capped. What sets this already stand-alone model apart further is its introduction of a waterproof case with a screw-down case back, creating possibly one of the most all-around useful tool watches on the market. The watch comes supplied on a 2pc tan lizard strap.
DIAL & HANDS
The dial is a bright case matching gold, the same is true for the hour markers and hands. The all-gold look is easy to get wrong, though Vulcain manages to create a stunning contrast in color and shine between the markers, hands, and the rest of the dial. Further, this Cricket includes the date, a function not seen on the original version. The Vulcain Cricket looks gorgeous on the wrist as well as the nightstand. So go ahead, let it wake you up.
ACCESSORIES
