1956 Omega Constellation (Ref. 2852-5 SC) Cal. 501 W/ Box & Papers

Since 1952 the Omega Constellation has been regarded as one of the most luxurious and precise watch collections offered by OMEGA. Adding to the impressive nature of the Constellation line, this watch family has always been chronometer rated and feature ornate dial details.

Of the many variations of the Constellation though the years, the most celebrated are those that feature the pie-pan dials from the 1950s and 60s. Apart from the obvious depth the pie-pan effect creates, these watches boast beautiful marker variations and dial details.

This 1956 Omega Constellation ref. 2852-5 SC is absolutely classic and incredibly handsome, but also comes with exceptional provenance. This watch was originally purchased in 1957 by a Richard. L Hovious at the United States Army exchange in Frankfurt Germany, and is accompanied by its original sales receipt, price tags, hang tag, box, and Omega guarantee paperwork. Completing this time capsule Mr. Hovious hand engraved his initials and last name into the watches case back, both cementing his ownership and the provenance on this beautiful Omega Constellation.

The appears to be an early service replacement, commonly seen on Omegas in this era. The acrylic crystal is clean and features the Omega logo at its center. The case back has been polished in the past and retains its observatory medallion and features the hand engraving "R. L. Hovious 1956". The watch will come supplied on a 2pc handmade shell cordovan leather strap.

DIAL & HANDS

The non-luminous "pie-pan" crosshair dial is a treat for the eyes and exceptionally well preserved, gracefully displaying subtle aging with no notable blemishes or damage present. The applied logos, ornate markers, and non-luminous dauphine hands give this watch a sophisticated presence. The hands exhibit some light oxidation, as expected for the age of the watch.
