1964 Rolex Submariner (Ref. 5513) "GILT Underline Dial w/ PCG"
The Rolex Submariner Reference 5513 is the embodiment of the classic dive watch. The 5513 is simple yet sophisticated and rugged The Ref. 5513 was first introduced in the 1962 and ceased production in late 1989. The Ref. 5513 is a purpose-built dive watch that lacks the date function like other Rolex Submariner models. (eg. Ref. 1680.)
When Rolex started printing the Submariner's depth rating on the dial, which was around late 1955 and on all submariner models starting in 1956 they were printed with a meters first depth rating. The earlier Ref. 5513 and Ref. 5512 Submariners bear the meters first followed by feet to display the depth rating which went to being printed as feet first in around 1969. Rumor has it that Rolex changed the dial to feet due to the expanding USA market.
This specific model variant of the 5513 Submariner is not only exquisite but very hard to find as well. The sought-after underline gilt dials are believed by the collector community to be very limited in production numbers making them a much more valuable and desirable. The honest pointed crown guard case, Twin-lock crown, and original bracelet make this a stunning example for the discerning collector.

CASE & BRACELET
This early pointed crown guard is excellent retaining full thick lugs and with factory finishing prevalent. The case retains its original no dot, no line, 7mm twin-lock crown. The fat font bezel has faded to a wonderful gray coloration and shows very little wear. The original 7206 oyster rivet bracelet with 80 end pieces is in wonderful condition and uncommonly seen, the bracelet retains 12 links and is stamped 2/64
Dial & Hands
This early and very rare "SWISS only" gilt-underline dial is original is in absolutely stunning condition, there is very faint hand drag underneath the hand stack only visible under loupe. The early tritium lume plots remain fully intact, showing no lume degradation when inspected under U.V. light and have taken on a charming creamy coloration. The early gilt hands are original to the piece and retain match the dial coloration perfectly.

None. The watch was recently serviced and is running at COSC spec backed by a 1-year warranty for accurate timekeeping.
