1968 Rolex GMT-Master (Ref. 1675) "Fuchsia" Mk I Pumpkin Patina Dial W/ Double Papers
The Rolex GMT is the jet-setting icon of the Rolex sports watch family. Like the Rolex Submariner, the Rolex GMT is sophisticated, rugged, and versatile. In 1954 Pan Am started using the newly designed Boeing 707 which allowed Pan Am to fly transcontinentally and is said to have started the commercially available jet age. In the same year, Rolex received a request from Pan Am to create a technical pilots watch that could indicate two time zones simultaneously that could be issued by the airline to their crews on long-haul transcontinental international flights. The original Rolex GMT-Master has a fourth 24-hour hand directly displaying the same time zone as the standard 12-hour hand but on a 24-hour scale. This GMT hand enabled the crews to set the watch to GMT or another time zone, and, using the rotatable 24-hour scale bezel, set to the correct offset thus displaying a second-time zone on the 24-hour scale.

CASE & BRACELET
The exceptionally crisp and impressive case has recently been expertly restored to exhibit extremely thick lugs with factory-like finishing throughout and very defined chamfers. The case exhibits minimal signs of previous use. The original "fat font" fuchsia and blue bezel insert is simply outstanding, featuring vibrant colors and a perfect amount of fading with only nominal signs of previous use. The case back also maintains very crisp finishing. The Rolex "U.S.A Made" Oyster riveted bracelet dates much later than the watch but is era-correct, the bracelet retains 11 links that show light stretch and will fit up to a 7 1/2-inch wrist.
DIAL & HANDS
The incredible matte black Mk I "Long E" dial is original to the watch and is in virtually flawless condition, showing no damage or age whatsoever to the dial itself. The tritium lume plots are a vibrant orange or "pumpkin" color, under U.V. light inspection the 4 and 5 o'clock lume plots exhibit some minor lume loss though it isn't really noticeable to the naked eye, the rest of the lume plots show no degradation. The original tritium hands are a half shade lighter than the dial but also feature a vibrant orange patina and exhibit no degradation under U.V. light inspection. The metallic date wheel is original with "open" 6's and 9's.
