There is something about the early vintage Omega Seamasters that truly embodies the golden era of dive watches of the 1960-1970s. Omega has a long history and heritage in dive watches, which date back to the 1930s. The seahorse adorned case back of the Seamaster series pays tribute to Neptune, the Roman god of the sea. The seahorse logo was conceived by engraver Jean-Pierre Borle. He was inspired by an image of Neptune driving a chariot pulled by seahorses, which is why the Omega seahorses are depicted wearing bridles.
Reference 165.024 has a specific feeling and look that centers it as one of the most desirable vintage Omega diving watches ever produced by the brand. The bi-directional ratcheting bezel, luminous bezel insert, high visibility dial, and overall larger size for a watch of its time period allow it to remain relevant to today's sizing trends. CASE & BRACELET
The wonderful twisted lug case has seen minimal polishing is the past and exhibits strong and even dimensions throughout with light signs of honest use. The original bakelite racheting bezel is in well-preserved condition, showing light signs of use and no cracks. The case back retains its original factory markings in clearly visible condition. The Omega 1171 bracelet retains 18 links that show very light signs of use, the endpieces are aftermarket reproductions of correct 633 end pieces.
DIAL & HANDS
The matte black dial is simply exceptional, showing no age or damage. The tritium lume plots have aged to a subtle green patina which is common, and they display no degradation under U.V. light inspection. The original tritium sword hands match the dial perfectly.
ACCESSORIES
None. The watch was recently serviced and is keeping time perfectly, backed by a 1-year warranty of accurate timekeeping.
