Omega has a long history and heritage in dive watches, which date back to the 1930s. The seahorse-adorned case back of the Seamaster series pays tribute to Neptune, the Roman god of the sea. The seahorse logo was conceived by engraver Jean-Pierre Borle. He was inspired by an image of Neptune driving a chariot pulled by seahorses, which is why the Omega seahorses are depicted wearing bridles.

CASE & BRACELET

The impressive case features extremely broad straight lugs with rounded finishing that gives the watch a very robust appearance. The case shows no defining evidence of being previously polished and shows gentle, but honest signs of use throughout. The original "Deep Blue" bakelite is in exceptional condition, showing only gentle signs of use and no cracking. The tritium lume numerals in the bezel match the dial patina nearly perfectly. The case retains its original Omega signed screw-down crown, which also operated the quick-set date function. The case back retains all of its factory engravings in deep and crisp condition. The Omega 1153/138 bracelet with 634 end pieces is believed to be original to the watch and retains 20 links that show minimal stretch and will fit up to a 7 1/4-inch wrist.

DIAL & HANDS

The glossy "Deep Blue" dial is in virtually flawless condition, showing no notable element of age or cracking. The tritium lume plots have taken on a lovely creamy patina with no degradation present when inspected under U.V. light. The original tritium sword hands match the dial perfectly and exhibit no degradation when inspected under U.V. light.
