1970s Technos Automatic Chronograph (Ref. 10767) Blue Dial

For 80 years before being totally consumed by the Japanese market and almost lost all together to the infamous Quartz Crisis, Technos was a manufacture run by a family of watchmakers, with a history that went all the way back to the year 1900. In 1970 the company was sold to General Watch Co. and thankfully the train just kept on going, because we got a stunning stock of funky dive and racing style watches which we're still admiring 50 years later.

CASE & BRACELET

Technos went full futurism with this C-shape case design. In stainless steel, the watch measures 43-millimeters and features deep and dramatic bevels on the case sides that give the watch excellent dimensions. It features two pump pushers for the chronograph, an inset crown, and a screw-down case back. The original bracelet on the watch is perfectly designed for the piece, with a fantastic mix of thickness in the links and a nearly integrated look. The bracelet takes what is already an interesting and beautiful piece to an entirely new level.

DIAL & HANDS

The dial is a beautiful matte navy, surrounded by an off-white, sloped tachymeter scale. The inner section houses several satisfying complication registers and does it with more ease than watches 10x its cost. At 12 and 6 we have 30-minute and 12-hour chronograph registers respectively, while 9 o'clock features a beautifully minimal crosshair seconds register. The watch also showcases calendar complications in both day and date windows. With a final flourish, we get to the hands, a stunningly eclectic set of baton-style aged tritium sticks and a bright orange, lethally tapered seconds hand.
