1973 Seiko Chronograph (Ref. 6139-7002)

In the 1960s and 1970s, Seiko produced a variety of affordable automatic chronograph watches. Watches that have experienced a new wave of popularity in recent years, a wave totally warranted. Seiko’s first automatic chronograph caliber was the 6139, which was available in several models and a variety of colorways.

CASE & BRACELET

The barrel-shaped, stainless steel case measures in at 40mm and features short lugs and a screw-down case back. The case retains its original pump pushers and unsigned button crown. The watch is fitted with its original Seiko bracelet, which uses shorter end-links for a flush connection to the case t0 create the appearance of the watch being one solid piece, the bracelet retains 18 links that exhibit stretch from use. The case has been previously polished and shows minimal signs of previous use.

DIAL & HANDS

The blue dial of this 6139 gives a fantastic first impression. Especially when the next thing you notice is how well the red-orange of the hands, outer 1/5 of a second chronograph track, and day wheel pair with the dark matte blue. There is some light discoloration near the 4 and 8 o'clock markers but otherwise, the dial, its many measurement tracks, and its original luminous markers and hands are in wonderful condition.
