1974 Rolex Datejust (Ref. 1601) Blue Satin Dial
The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and beloved Rolex watches ever made. Launched in 1945, it has remained a timeless classic, instantly recognizable as an item of true quality and functional design. The Datejust’s exemplary style makes it an extremely versatile choice, worn just as easily with a suit as with jeans and a t-shirt. The Datejust would make a wonderful starting point for a new vintage collector and is always a great addition to an expanding collection.
The early Rolex Datejust is a watch grounded in sophisticated simplicity, with all the hallmarks of an elevated timepiece while retaining the functionality we've come to expect from Rolex. This Datejust ref. 1601 from 1974 features a blue satin dial which is both stunning and very uncommon.

CASE & BRACELET
The excellent case retains thick and symmetcial lugs that show light evidence of previous polishing and gentle signs of use. The white gold fluted bezel is extremely crisp and believed to remain unpolished with minimal signs of use present. The era-correct Rolex 6251H rolled-link Jubilee bracelet is slightly earlier than the watch, dating to 1969, and retains 18 links that show moderate stretch for the style and age of the bracelet and will fit up to a 6 1/2-inch wrist. Additional links can be added to the bracelet upon request.
DIAL & HANDS
The impressive and rare satin blue "pie pan" dial is simply stunning and in remarkable condition, showing no notable blemishes or discoloration around the dial that would be commonly seen in this era. The tritium lume plots have achieved a lovely creamy patina, under UV light inspection the 5 and 11 o'clock lume plots remain partially intact with degradation present. The original tritium hands match the dial nicely with some darker spots of patina present, under UV light inspection no degradation is present in the hands. The metallic date wheel is original with "open" 6's and 9's.
