Tiffany & Co.
1976 Tiffany & Co. 14K YG Dress Watch "CBS Appreciation Award"
When we think of vintage Tiffany & Co. watches, the first examples that come to mind are the big-name brands with co-signed dials of the classic jeweler that have become famously sought-after for their rarity and charm. However, Tiffany & Co. made some beautiful creations within their own independent offerings as well. Mostly consisting of timepieces constructed with precious metals that emulated other classic dress models, such as the Calatrava, but done so with an aesthetic that maintains the Tiffany & Co. identity in each piece.
The Tiffany & Co. 14K yellow gold dress watch presented here was gifted to Charles Schebel from CBS in 1976, as elucidated by the case back engraving. Charles was a US Air Force Veteran who went on to have a long and successful career at CBS, where he rose the ranks to become a TV executive. During his tenure with CBS, he contributed to major shows including Magnum P.I. and M.A.S.H. among many other hit shows, and later retired in 1988.
We’ve encountered several other CBS “In Appreciation” watches recently, all of which are Tiffany & Co. dress models in 14K yellow gold. This example, however, appears to have been cherished and seldom worn as the condition is near perfect.
