One of the largest evolutions for the Rolex Datejust model lineup was at the end of the 1970s with the introduction of the first "flat dial" Datejust. The movement was vastly upgraded to the Rolex cal. 3035 quick-set movement. These Datejust variations are often referred to as "transitional" as they still feature the more classic acrylic crystals and tritium lume whilst housing many advancements.

CASE & BRACELET
The exceptional case is believed to remain unpolished with crisp factory finishing present throughout and honest signs of gentle use present. The 18K yellow gold fluted bezel is also in exceptionally crisp, unpolished condition and has achieved a charming patina throughout. The case back also remains unpolished, though some minor wear is present. The original Rolex 62523H 18 Jubilee bracelet with 455J end pieces retains 21 links that show minimal stretch and will fit up to a 7 3/4-inch wrist.
DIAL & HANDS
The original white dial with a railroad minute track and gold Roman numeral markers is in flawless original condition, with no damage or age present. The tritium lume plots feature a charming yellow patina and exhibit no degradation under UV light inspection. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly with no degradation present under UV light inspection. The gold date wheel is original with "open" 6's and 9's.
