1997 OMEGA Speedmaster Professional (Ref. 3572.50) "Sapphire Case Back"
(Alan Bean With An Omega Speedmaster Professional On Lunar Surface Of The Moon)
The Omega Speedmaster Professional is by far one of our favorite chronographs. The Speedmaster has an incredible history starting with automotive racing moving into flight and eventually to NASA and the U.S. Space Program. There are many subtle differences within the vintage Omega Speedmaster range of references that make them all slightly unique and different.
The 3572.50 model is similar to the ‘standard’ Moonwatch reference of the era, the 3570.50, but with a sapphire case back. In the current Omega collection, you can still find the Speedmaster Professional with a sapphire case back, but it also has the sapphire front crystal. The 3572.50 has the Hesalite crystal on top and the sapphire crystal on the back which makes it more original to the Moon watch offering but with the exhibition case back. The 3572.50 was fitted with several movement types, the first being a 17 jewel cal. 863, which is essentially a more embellished version of the famous workhorse cal. 861. The Cal. 863 was later upgraded to house 18 jewels and then was eventually replaced by the later cal. 1863.
The ref 3572.50 would be a great option for the decerning gentleman looking for a unique yet functional Omega Speed. The Speedmaster looks great on the bracelet as well as a handcrafted leather strap. It is one of our favorite chronographs due to its timeless design and functionality. Its versatility to be paired with the most formal and the most casual of wardrobe also makes the Speedmaster a good choice for the first vintage timepiece and or a classic daily driver.

CASE & BRACELET
The beautiful case is believed to remain unpolished with sharp angles and finishing while showing light signs of honest use. The black tachymetre bezel remains deep black and exhibits only minimal signs of use. The case retains its original pump pushers and Omega signed crown. The sapphire case back remains free of damage or blemishes. The original 1499/842 Omega bracelet retains 15 links with virtually no stretch, the watch does come with 2 additional bracelet links as well.
DIAL & HANDS
The matte black dial dial is in exceptional condition, with the only age visible being light spotting around the edges of the sub-dials and only visible under loupe. The tritium lume plots have achieved a perfect yellow patina and show no degrdation under U.V. light inspection. The original tritium hands match the dial nicely and with no degradation present under U.V. light inspection.
ACCESSORIES
The watch comes with a blank card from Omega and 2 extra bracelet links. The watch is keeping time perfectly, previous service history is unknown.
