The Rolex GMT-Master, a symbol of sophistication and versatility, has a storied history that dates back to 1954. It all started when Rolex received a request from Pan American Airways (Pan Am) to develop a technical pilot's watch capable of displaying two time zones simultaneously. With the advent of commercial transcontinental flights, Pan Am needed a watch for their long-haul international flight crews that would enable them to keep track of time in multiple locations.
GMT, which stands for Greenwich Mean Time, is the universal time standard that regulates the world's clocks and serves as the basis for aviation planning and schedules. The Rolex GMT-Master is equipped with a fourth 24-hour hand that displays the same time zone as the standard 12-hour hand but on a 24-hour scale. This GMT hand allows wearers to set the watch to GMT or any other time zone and then adjust the offset using the rotating 24-hour bezel to display a second time zone. This remarkable feature makes the Rolex GMT-Master a must-have for anyone who frequently travels across multiple time zones, allowing them to keep track of two time zones with ease and precision.
The first few years of the reference 1675, the second GMT-Master reference to come from Rolex, saw rapid evolution in the model's design. This swift progression resulted in various iterations of the dial and case styles, all of which with minuscule production windows. This has become one of the most celebrated and documented eras for the Rolex GMT-Master and is generally referred to as the Gilt-era for Rolex.
We are proud to present this exquisite and complete 1963 Rolex GMT-Master ref. 1675. This example maintains an especially attractive glossy gilt "chapter ring" black dial with an exclamation point below the 6 o'clock marker, accompanied by the beloved pointed crown guard case, which ceased production shortly after the creation of this watch. On its own, this GMT-Master example would be considered a true gem but is further elevated with its original accessories to become an impressive set for the most discerning of collectors.

CASE & BRACELET
The pointed crown guard case is in impressive overall condition, showing very thick lugs that have been recently polished to exhibit factory-like details with broad chamfers down the lugs. The original red back "Pepsi" bezel insert features a beautiful vintage fade with minimal signs of use present. The original Rolex 7206 Oyster rivet bracelet with 80 end pieces retains 11 links that exhibit light stretch and will fit up to a 7 1/2-inch wrist. The watch also comes with an additional era-correct Rolex 6251H Jubilee bracelet that retains 18 links that show light stretch for its style and age.
DIAL & HANDS
The original glossy gilt "chapter ring" dial with an exclamation point is genuinely outstanding, retaining the intended mirror-like gloss finish with no spider-cracking that is often seen in dials of this era. The only elements of age are just nominal and do not affect the aesthetic of the dial, most notably there are two tonal spots above the left side of the SCOC text that are only visible under magnification in the right lighting circumstances. The tritium lume plots have achieved a charming creamy patina with no major degradation present when inspected under UV light. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly with no degradation present whatsoever. The metallic date wheel is original with "open" 6's and 9's.
ACCESSORIES
The watch comes complete with its original Rolex box, Rolex guarantee pamphlet, Rolex chronometer certificate, GMT-Master booklet, Rolex cigarette box card, and green document holder, along with an additional Jubilee bracelet as well. The watch is keeping time, backed by a 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
