Orfina Porsche Design Chronograph (Ref. 7176S) Factory PVD "Top Gun"
When Porsche Design first opened its doors in 1972 and started producing watches, Orfina was the brand that it originally chose to be its partner and manufacturer. The various Porsche Design by Orfina watches that were produced from the early 1970s into the 1980s have garnered a cult-like following over the years due to their distinct appearance, automotive association, and memorable Hollywood film appearances. Most notably seen on on the wrist of LT Pete "Maverick" Mitchell played by Tom Cruise in the hit movie "Top Gun".
The Porsche Design ref. 7176S employs a rock-solid Lemania cal. 5100, which is an automatic chronograph day-date movement that also features a quickset function. Needless to say the ref. 7176S is nothing short of functional, and as if this watch wasn’t impressive enough, all of that functionality is compact into a super-wearable 40mm case. The case was produced in stainless steel but with two finishes, an anti-reflective bead-blasted finish and a matte black PVD coating finish, the latter of which is the one seen on Maverick's wrist in Top Gun.

CASE & BRACELET
The exceptional case remains in its original and unpolished condition with its original black PVD factory coating intact throughout. The PVD finish does show some gentle fading in desirable areas to give the watch a subtle yet attractive vintage aesthetic. The case retains its original PVD Porsche Design-signed screw-down crown and PVD pump pushers. The case back retains crisp finishing with all of the factory markings fully intact. The original black PVD Porsche Design rolled-link bracelet displays gentle fading that matches the case and retains 28 links that exhibit almost no stretch and will fit up to an 8 1/2-inch wrist.
DIAL & HANDS
The original matte black dial is in near-flawless condition, showing no damage and subtle elements of age that are nominal in nature and invisible to the naked eye. The tritium lume plots have achieved a stunning vivid yellow patina that contrasts against the matte black dial beautifully, under U.V. light inspection the lume plots display no degradation whatsoever. All of the hands remain original to the watch, the tritium-lumed hour and minute hands match the dial's yellow patina perfectly and remain fully intact when inspected under U.V. light.
ACCESSORIES
None. The watch was recently serviced and is keeping time perfectly, backed by a 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
