Longines
Tropical 1960s Longines Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch "Cal. 18L" (Ref. 1075) Blue "Mosaic" Diamond Dial
Longines is one of the oldest continuously operating watch manufacturers in the world, with roots dating back to 1832. Over that immense period of time, the brand has crafted some truly incredible—and incredibly accurate—timepieces. In fact, it's one of the reasons Longines is the official timekeeper of the Kentucky Derby, where accuracy is paramount.
The brand's history is sprawling with an array of beautiful and functional watches, including military-issued timepieces, beautiful sports watches, and unique dress watches – and this incredibly unique piece from the 1960s is no exception.
As if your eye was to go anywhere else first, let's start with the dial – a gorgeous "mosaic" style design with alternating rectangles full of shimmering blues and bronzes brushed either horizontally or vertically, coupled with diamond-shaped—and diamond-inlaid—indices at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock. It's attractive and enchanting, changing as the wrist moves and the light hits it from different angles. Then there's the flowy original integrated stainless steel bracelet that makes it seem like the watch goes on forever. This is an exceptional, mesmerizing piece from a stalwart brand, and one that will turn heads and start conversations.
