*Unpolished* 1994 Omega Speedmaster Professional (Ref. 3592.50) "Sapphire Case Back"

The Omega Speedmaster Professional is by far one of our most favorite chronographs. The Speedmaster has an incredible history starting with automotive racing moving into flight and eventually to NASA and the U.S. Space Program.  There are many subtle differences within the vintage Omega Speedmaster range of references that make them all slightly unique and different.

The 3592.50 Omega Speedmaster model, also known as the 'De Luxe', is similar to the ‘standard’ Moonwatch reference of the era, the 3570.50, but with a sapphire display case back. In the current Omega collection, you can still find the Speedmaster Professional with a sapphire case back, but it also has the sapphire front crystal, which makes the 3592.50 more unique as it retains the Hesalite crystal on top and the sapphire crystal on the back. Creating a feeling more original to the Moon Watch while offering a window into the beautiful Cal. 863 movement. The 3592.50 was fitted with several movement types, the first being a 17 jewel Cal. 863, which is essentially a more embellished version of the famous workhorse Cal. 861. The Cal. 863 was later upgraded to house 18 jewels and eventually replaced by the later Cal. 1863.

The ref 3592.50 would be a great option for the decerning gentleman looking for a unique yet functional Omega Speedmaster. The Speedmaster looks great on the bracelet as well as a handcrafted leather strap. It is one of our favorite chronographs due to its timeless design and functionality. Its versatility to be paired with the most formal and the most casual of wardrobe also makes the Speedmaster a good choice for the first vintage timepiece and or a classic daily driver.
