Tropical 1956 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date (Ref. 6534) "OCC" Dial W/ Roulette Date Wheel
While Rolex began using self-winding movements in the early 1930s, it wasn't until 1950 that it was given a proper name with the introduction of the Oyster-Perpetual. Many models in the Rolex catalog would go on to wear the names Oyster and/or Perpetual on their dials, including this gorgeous date model from 1956.
The tenured model has been a mainstay within the Rolex catalog since its introduction and remains one of the most sought-after offerings. Vintage variants perfectly blend simplicity with sophistication and often feature unique details not seen in other models. Whether you're a seasoned collector or looking for your first entry point into vintage watches, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual is always a worthy addition to any collection.
This rare piece is perfect for anyone interested in vintage watches, as the start of a collection or as an addition. With a beautiful white explorer dial with applied markers indices and logo, and the "Officially Certified Chronometer" (OCC) text, which is the precursor to the "Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified" (SCOC) dials we see today, making this a beautiful time capsule for the wrist.

DIAL & HANDS
The charming and original metallic white applied logo dial has achieved a beautiful dial patina featuring a rosy peach color at the center that transitions to a creamy golden color further from the dial center. Apart from the attractive patina, the dial exhibits no present marks, scratches, or notably obscene elements of age. The radium lume plots are a sandy beige color and exhibit light degradation throughout but most notably at the 3 o'clock position, which is very common. The original radium lumed dauphine hands feature a dark grey patina and exhibit no degradation under UV light inspection. The alternating red and black "roulette" date wheel is original to the watch and exhibits gentle age.
