Bulova

1969 Bulova Caravelle Worldtimer (Ref. 753) Black Dial

$ 1,850

While Carevelle may be a lesser-known name in the world of vintage watches, Bulova certainly isn't. The latter's unique and funky watches from the '60s, '70s, and '80s are always cause for conversation. Ranging from colorful diving chronographs to eccentric electric watches like the famous Accutron.

In the early '60s, Bulova introduced Caravelle as a sister brand, featuring jeweled watches that would quickly go on to become the biggest selling jeweled watch on the American market. Designed to compete in price with other non-jeweled brands at the time, Caravelle was a smashing success. With numerous space-aged inspired designs, Caravelle proved their understanding of the modernist aesthetic takeover of the times.

This particular model is, on its own, a beautiful, albeit subdued, watch. But what makes it especially exciting is its black world-time bezel, which rotates bi-directionally and features 19 different cities from across the globe, written in contrasting silver and orange font. It not only makes this piece a must for any world traveler, but also makes it worthy of conversation in even the most discerning of watch collector circles.
