1970 Rolex GMT-Master (Ref. 1675) Mk I Dial 'Mexico Set' W/ Box & Double Punch Papers
The Rolex GMT is the jet-setting icon of the Rolex sports watch family. Like the Rolex Submariner, the Rolex GMT is sophisticated, rugged, and versatile. In 1954 Pan Am started using the newly designed Boeing 707 which allowed Pan Am to fly transcontinentally and is said to have started the commercially available jet age. In the same year, Rolex received a request from Pan Am to create a technical pilot's watch that could indicate two time zones simultaneously that could be issued by the airline to their crews on long-haul transcontinental international flights. The original Rolex GMT-Master has a fourth 24-hour hand directly displaying the same time zone as the standard 12-hour hand but on a 24-hour scale. This GMT hand enabled the crews to set the watch to GMT or another time zone, and, using the rotatable 24-hour scale bezel, set to the correct offset thus displaying a second-time zone on the 24-hour scale.
This vibrant and charismatic 1970 Rolex GMT-Master ref. 1675 is a full and very cohesive set from Mexico. Complete with a 'Made in Mexico' Jubilee Bracelet, two pieces of original punched guarantee paperwork printed in Spanish, and a Rolex box made specifically for the Mexican market. However, this watch isn't just well documented, but exquisitely beautiful as well with a well-preserved and sought-after Mk. I "Long E" dial featuring a charming creamy patina.

CASE & BRACELET
The impressive case exhibits honest signs of use while featuring very thick and symmetrical lugs that retain full chamfers with minimal evidence of previous polishing present. The original red back fat-font "Pepsi" bezel is very vibrant, showing only a subtle denim fade to the blue side and minimal wear. The original 'Hecho en Mexico' oval-link Jubilee bracelet retains 19 links that show stretch, which is expected for this style and age of bracelet, and will fit up to a 7 3/4-inch wrist.
DIAL & HANDS
The original and exceptional matte black Mk I "Long E" dial exhibits no actual damage on the dial, with the only element of age being some minor clipping on the outer edge of the white paint of the minute track, which is virtually invisible to the naked eye. The tritium lume plots have taken on a lovely creamy yellow patina, under UV light inspection the lumed 12 o'clock triangle exhibits a nominal spot of degradation that has no visual effect on the watch and the rest of the lume plots remain fully intact. The original hands have been professionally restored with tritium to match the dial.
ACCESSORIES
The watch comes complete with its original Mexico specific Rolex box, Rolex guarantee paper, Rolex Oyster booklet with punched serial, and Rolex translation pamphlet. The watch is keeping time, but the service history is unknown. A movement service can be provided upon request.
