1972 Seiko Bell-Matic Alarm (Ref. 4006-6002) Blue W/ Box & Papers
Seiko introduced their first alarm watch, the Bell-Matic, in 1966. The Seiko Bell-Matic is loved by many for its fully automatic alarm and the 4 different functions its single crown operates, including setting the time, setting the alarm, winding the alarm power, and setting the day. The automatic winding capability of the Bell-Matic frees up the crown to perform all four functions.
The Bell-Matic alarm sounds from a small, spring-powered hammer that repeatedly strikes a curved metal spring. When activated, the alarm sounds for approximately 10 seconds.
In a world where there's no shortage of alarms on our phones, computers and mobile devices, the Bell-Matic may now be relegated to novelty status, but that doesn't make it any less cool or fun. And the fact that its also an exceptionally good-looking watch just makes it all the more enticing.
