1973 Rolex Datejust (Ref. 1601) No-Lume "Sigma" Dial
The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and most beloved Rolex watches ever made, even though the Datejust was launched in 1945 it has remained a timeless classic and is instantly recognizable as an item of refined quality and functional design. The Datejust can be worn just as easily with a suit as it can be with jeans and a tee-shirt.
This specific 1973 Datejust ref. 1601 retains its original and rare "sigma" non-luminous silver "pie-pan" dial, original white gold fluted bezel, and Jubilee bracelet that is perfectly suited for everyday wear. A Sigma dial is a Rolex dial named for the letters printed at the bottom of the dial at the 6 o'clock position. Most Rolex dials are commonly marked with “T Swiss T,” under the 6 o'clock marker, however, a Sigma dial is marked “σ T SWISS T σ.” This signifies the use of gold components within the dial.
This piece would make a great start for a new vintage collector, or be a great addition to an expanding collection. We love the early Rolex Datejust for its simplicity and its classic sophistication.

The original black enamel inlayed hands are also in lovely condition, the hour hand does show a small piece of missine enamel though it is hard to notice with the naked eye.
