1981 Rolex Two-Tone Datejust (Ref. 16013) White "Lacerte" Co-Branded Dial
The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and beloved Rolex watches ever made. Launched in 1945, it has remained a timeless classic, instantly recognizable as an item of advanced quality and functional design. The Datejust’s exemplary style makes it an extremely versatile choice, worn just as easily with a suit as with jeans and a t-shirt. The Datejust would make a wonderful starting point for a new vintage collector
One of the largest evolutions for the Rolex Datejust model lineup was at the end of the 1970s with the introduction of the first "flat dial" Datejust. The movement was vastly upgraded to the Rolex cal. 3035 quick-set movement. These Datejust variations are often referred to as "transitional" as they still feature the more classic acrylic crystals and tritium lume whilst housing many advancements.
The dial of this Rolex Datejust is co-branded with the Lacerte Software Corporation. Larry Lacerte, the founder of the corporation created the company out of his garage in Long Beach California in 1978, and as the company grew it was later relocated to Dallas, Texas. Larry created one of the first accounting software and helped revolutionize the way modern accounting is performed. In 1998, the Lacerte Software Corporation was sold to Intuit where it remains as their premium tax return software.
