The Rolex Submariner Reference 5513 is the embodiment of the classic dive watch. The 5513 is simple yet sophisticated and rugged. The ref. 5513 was first introduced in 1962 and ceased production in late 1989. The ref. 5513 is a purpose-built dive watch that lacks the date function like other Rolex Submariner models. 

1982 Rolex Submariner (Ref. 5513) Mk. IV MAXI 

The dial on this 1982 Rolex Submariner ref. 5513 is commonly referred to as the Maxi Mk. IV dial, which is the second-to-last dial variation Rolex produced for the ref. 5513 with a matte black finish. The Maxi IV Dial is commonly seen in cases stamped in the late 6 million to late 7 million serial range and was introduced around 1981.

The features of the Maxi IV Dial include the following:

  • “Zig-Zag S” in “SUBMARINER”
  • The “SUBMARINER” text is written above and shorter in length than the depth rating below it.
  • The “=” sign in the depth rating is directly below the “A” in “SUBMARINER” and is slightly to the right.

CASE & BRACELET

The excellent case has been previously professionally polished to feature crisp, factory-like chamfers and finishing throughout the thick and symmetrical lugs. The original Mk III "fat font" bezel insert is in excellent condition showing virtually no signs of use or age, the pearl is a luminova service replacement. The original Rolex 93150 Oyster bracelet with 580 end pieces retains 10 links that show almost no stretch and will fit up to a 7-inch wrist.

Dial & Hands

The original matte black Mk. IV maxi dial features extra large lume plots and remains in virtually perfect condition, showing no damage or age. The tritium lume plots have achieved a handsome creamy golden patina with no degradation present when inspected under UV light. The original tritium lume hands match the dial nicely and exhibit no degradation.

ACCESSORIES 

The watch comes with an original Rolex box, Oyster booklet, Rolex Submariner Anchor, translation papers, and a Rolex green document holder. The watch is keeping time perfectly backed by a 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
