Girard Perregaux

*NOS* 1960s Girard-Perregaux Gyrodate W/ Box & Papers

Girard-Perregaux was formally founded in 1852, and went on to forge a deep lineage within Swiss watchmaking history. The company is known for making really interesting and, at times, really whimsical watches, with this Gyrodate falling into the former camp.

Upon first glance, it looks like a fairly typical sports watch with a rotating bezel. But upon closer inspection, you'll see that that rotating bezel is actually a calendar, which can be rotated to match up to the corresponding days in the chapter ring.

But what sets this particular offering apart is the fact that it has been left virtually untouched for roughly 60 years. It's in NOS condition, with not even the smallest of hairline scratches anywhere on the case or crystal. It's an opportunity to step back in time – and have a little fun doing it.

As a result of being NOS, the case retains beautiful, thick, crisp, and symmetrical lugs throughout, as well as its original crown. The case back retains its factory engravings in deep and crisp condition. The rotating calendar bezel is in untouched perfect condition as well. The watch comes supplied on its original Girard-Perregaux brown 2pc crocodile leather strap with a gold plaque "Girard-Perregaux" signed tang buckle.

DIAL & HANDS

The original dial is beautifully preserved and in great condition, with no scratches or damage present. The chapter ring features the one-letter abbreviation for every day of the week, with Sundays denoted in red, to coincide with the calendar bezel. The original gold baton hands and hour indices are in excellent condition, with completely intact lume when inspected under UV light. The tritium lume plots around the dial also exhibit no degradation under UV light inspection.

ACCESSORIES

The watch comes with its original inner and outer boxes, along with the original instruction pamphlet. The watch is keeping time, but the service history is unknown. A movement service can be provided upon request.
