Orfina Porsche Design Chronograph (Ref. 7750) (Original PVD) "Top Gun"
Porsche Design by Orfina watches were produced from the late 1970s into the 1980s. The Porsche Design timepieces have become icons and have also received a cult-like following due to their automotive association as well as some memorable Hollywood appearances. An early PVD day-date chronograph is seen on the wrist of LT Pete "Maverick" Mitchell played by Tom Cruise in the hit movie "Top Gun" who is wearing an example made by Orfina and branded under Porsche design.
The Porsche design used the automatic day-date chronograph Valjoux 7750 movement which, from a complication perspective, packs a mighty punch. Orfina produced these references in stainless steel with two finishes. The bead-blasted anti-reflective stainless steel and a black PVD variant that is the one seen on Maverick's wrist in Top Gun. The case size is 40mm in diameter with screw-down case back, mineral crystal, Internal tachymeter bezel, black dial with tritium luminous indexes, day, and date at 3 o’clock position of the dial. It is rare to find an example such as the one we are featuring here at Craft & Tailored with the bracelet and the case fully intact and unpolished featuring the original finish.

CASE & BRACELET
The early PVD case remains in excellent and unpolished condition, the case has achieved a handsome patina from the wear of the PVD. The case retains its original "Porsche Design" signed crown and pump pushers. The case back retains all of its original factory markings in crisp condition. The original PVD "NSA" Porsche Design bracelet is in excellent condition, showing very minimal patina, the bracelet retains 24 links that show no signs of use.
DIAL & HANDS
The matte black dial is in great vintage condition showing some light signs of age and light marks that are only visible under a loupe. The luminous material has been removed off of the dial. All of the hands remain original to the watch and are in excellent condition. The day wheel is in English and German.
ACCESSORIES
None. The watch was recently serviced and is keeping time perfectly, backed by a 1-year warranty on the accuracy of timekeeping.
