The Rolex Datejust ref. 16220 is a transitional reference as it features a tritium dial, but features numerous upgrades such as a sapphire crystal and the Rolex Cal. 3135 movement which features a quick-set date function. The combination of the engine-turned bezel with the Oyster bracelet elevates this watch dramatically, to a more sporty and utilitarian feel than the classic elegant variations of the Datejust. We love this one in particular, not only for its IBM provenance, but for the exceptional dial featured on this example that makes it a truly beautiful and unique timepiece.

CASE & BRACELET
The impressive case retains extremely thick and robust lugs that remain symmetrical in presence and show light signs of previous use and minimal signs of previous polishing. The stainless steel engine-turned bezel is in very crisp condition, showing only gentle signs of previous use. The case back retains its original engraving that reads "Gary Gerke, IBM Quarter Century Club, June 19th, 1992." The original Rolex 78360 Oyster bracelet with 558B end pieces retains 12 links that show almost no stretch and will fit up to a 7 1/2-inch wrist.
DIAL & HANDS
The original silver sunburst dial has achieved one of the most even and impressive tropical patinas and features a warm, almost champagne color tone with a subtle texture that gives the watch a super unique and attractive overall aesthetic. The tritium lume plots remain bright ivory and show no degradation when inspected under U.V. light. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly with no degradation present under U.V. light inspection.
