1948 Longines Flyback Chronograph (Ref. 23505) "Cal. 30CH"

$ 6,750

Whether it's a chronograph, diving watch, or a simple dress model, a Longines wristwatch never seems to disappoint. Longines history is sprawling with an array of beautiful and functional watches, including military-issued timepieces, unique dress watches, and beautiful sports watches.

The Longines 30CH in-house flyback chronograph movement was created in 1947 and is the direct successor of Longines' legendary 13NZ movement created in 1936, which was the first flyback chronograph wristwatch to ever be produced and is renowned as one of the best movements ever created. The 30CH, however, is also regarded as an impressive and truly important chronograph movement in its own right, essentially representing the end of the truly in-house Longines chronograph movements before the brand moved to a modified Valjoux movement platform.

This charming, yet elegant and oversized ref. 23505 was made just a year after the Cal. 30CH was introduced. The unique 'Cornes de Vache' style teardrop lugs extend the already oversized 38mm case for a commanding wrist presence and features the always-appreciated rectangle pushers.

CASE & BRACELET

The exceptional case is in very impressive condition, especially for the age of the watch, showing crisp angles and finishing throughout the lugs and case with no obvious evidence or previous polishing and only gentle signs of use present. The case retains its original rectangle pushers and Longines signed crown. The case back is also in great condition with nominal wear present. The watch comes supplied on a 2pc handmade leather strap.

DIAL & HANDS

The original and beautifully aged silver dial has achieved a charming warmth with a subtle speckling patina. There is some wear on the outer edge of the dial that comes into contact with the blue tachometer scale, though it has little aesthic effect on the overall dial presence. The red telemeter scale remains fully intact. The hands all remain original to the watch, with the center chronograph hands and sub-dial hands being a refined blued steel. The alpha-style hour and minute hands are also in excellent condition.

ACCESSORIES

None. The watch is keeping time and is functioning perfectly, backed by a 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
