1970s Heuer Autavia Automatic Chronograph (Ref. 11630) Black "Orange Boy" Dial
The Heuer Autavia came into production in 1933 as a dashboard timer for automotive racing and flying, where the Autavia name is derived, Auto and Aviation. The Autavia was then introduced in 1962 (The same year Jo Siffert entered Formula One) as the wristwatch we know today and soon became the flagship for the entire Brand.
From the 60s through the 80s, the Heuer Autavia saw an impressive number of variations. From automatic movements to manual movements, racing chronographs, GMTs, and even regatta timers, there's truly an Autavia for everyone. Each variation features unique aesthetic differences, usually accompanied by a clever nickname. This, paired with the incredible engineering and movement-making that was seen by Heuer in this era, makes it no secret why the Autavia, or Heuer in general, has remained a staple fixture within the watch collecting community.

The watch comes supplied on a 2pc rally-style rubber tropic strap with a Heuer tang buckle.
DIAL & HANDS
The matte black dial with grey sub-dials and orange accents is in virtually flawless vintage condition, showing no age or damage throughout. The tritium lume-filled markers and plots feature a dark beige patina and exhibit no notable signs of degradation. The original and bright orange tritium hands match the dial and display no degradation when inspected under UV light.
