1969 Seiko Chronograph (Ref. 6139-6010)

While the title of "First Automatic Chronograph" is a heavily disputed claim (multiple watch companies somewhat simultaneously debuted what they claimed as "the first" automatic chronograph in 1969), there are many who believe Seiko are the rightful owners of that title with their cal. 6139 movement.

It's the heartbeat of the legendary "Pogue" chronographs – and it also beats within this incredible 6139-6010, housed in a fantastic cushion-shaped case with a striking metallic blue dial. As if this watch wasn't cool enough already, a similar 6139-6010 was the personal choice of a certain Bruce Lee at the height of his fame – who used his to time his tightly choreographed fight routines.

And hey, if it's good enough for Bruce, it's gotta be good enough for the rest of us.

CASE & BRACELET

The cushion-style case shows honest use and appears to have been polished in the past while retaining its original chamfers. The case retains its original recessed 'button' crown and pushers. The case back retains its original engravings in clear and visible condition. The watch comes supplied on a two-piece handmade leather strap.

DIAL & HANDS

The striking metallic blue dial is in fantastic vintage condition with minimal signs of age. Likewise, the navy blue interior bezel is in remarkable condition, especially considering its age. All lume plots are fully intact and have aged to a very light cream. The original lume-filled cigarette style hands remain in excellent condition and match the dial perfectly. The red sub-dial and chronograph hands add a welcome pop of color to the dial, and are in excellent condition, as are both day and date wheels.
