1978 Seiko Automatic Chronograph (Ref. 6139-7101) Black Dial

$ 750

While the title of "First Automatic Chronograph" is a heavily disputed claim (multiple watch companies somewhat simultaneously debuted what they claimed as "the first" automatic chronograph in 1969), there are many who believe Seiko are the rightful owners of that title with their cal. 6139 movement. It's the heartbeat of famed watches like the Speedtimer and legendary "Pogue" chronographs. And it beats within this beautiful piece as well, housed in a uniquely 70s-style case with a brooding dial and subtle hits of color throughout

CASE & BRACELET

The excellent helmet-esque case has been very lightly polished in the past and retains very strong factory dimensions with light signs of honest use. The case retains its original recessed crown and pump pushers. The case back features all of its original factory engravings in clear and legible condition. The watch will come supplied on its original stainless steel bracelet.

DIAL & HANDS

The black dial is in excellent vintage condition, showing only light signs of age. The outer edge of the dial features a tachymetre with light blue printing. The lume on the dial all remains fully intact when inspected under UV light and displays a light patina. The original lume hands match the dial nicely and exhibit no degradation when inspected under UV light. The yellow seconds and subdial hands add a nice pop of color.

ACCESSORIES
