1950s Seiko Automatic "Indicator" 14K Gold-filled (Ref. 14015) 'Cal. 11a' W/ Full Set

1956 was a monumental year for both Seiko and Japanese watchmaking, as the brand introduced the cal. 11a, the first automatic movement to come from the brand. However, the purest will acknowledge how the cal. 11a isn't truly a Japanese-made movement, but is actually a modified A. Schild cal. 1382 movement, marking an interesting intersection of Swiss and Japanese watchmaking. The indicator nickname is in reference to the power reserved positioned on the top portion of the dial.

These classically designed, more sophisticated pieces from the brand are quite uncommon, but less talked about, often overshadowed by the sports watches of the 1960s and 70s from Seiko.

CASE & BRACELET

The fantastic 14K gold-filled case is in wonderful condition, especially for its age, and has developed a charming brassy-oxidized color throughout the plating of the case. The case retains its original "S" signed crown. The watch comes supplied on its original brown leather Seiko strap and gold-plated Seiko tang buckle.

DIAL & HANDS

The original silver dial is filled with vintage whimsy, featuring a subtle yet attractive vintage aesthetic to the dial achieved from the watch's age. The original dauphine hands are in excellent condition.

ACCESSORIES

The watch comes complete with its original box, warranty paper, and hangtag. The box does show some age. The watch is running and functioning correctly, though the service history is unknown. A movement service can be purchased upon request.
