IWC’s Caliber 8531 is highly praised and regarded as one of the best automatic movements ever created. Featuring the Pellaton winding system which was a new and extremely efficient movement system for perpetual automatic wristwatch movements. This innovative movement was patented by IWC in 1950 and we saw the first mass production of these watches in 1952. The Pellaton winding system is still used in IWC watches today and has been improved upon ever since. Surrounding the heartbeat of this IWC ref. R347A is an absolutely beautiful and exceptionally well-preserved yellow gold Calatrava-style case and dial. CASE & BRACELET

The crisp and unpolished 18K yellow gold case boasts a stunning patina with colors that range from deep reds, blue, to dark purple throughout the case sides and case back. The case retains strong factroy finishing and dimensions throughout with nominal evidence of previous use present. The unsigned crown is potentially a very early service replacement. The snap-on case back continued the colorful case patina and is in excellent condition. The watch comes supplied on a 2pc handmade leather strap with an original gold plaque IWC tang buckle.

DIAL & HANDS

The original and classically designed silver dial is in virtually flawless condition, exhibiting no age or damage. The original solid yellow gold dauphine hands are also in perfect condition.
