1963 Omega Seamaster 30 (Ref. 135.007-64) Grey "Argyle" Dial

The Speedmaster might be the watch that made Omega a household name (and took it to the moon), but the Seamaster has been around quite a bit longer and has its own incredible legacy worth talking about.

First released in 1948 in celebration of Omega’s centennial anniversary, the Seamaster became a worldwide success and was the brand’s top seller for decades. Today, it’s the longest-running name in the Omega catalog and still holds a special place in plenty of collectors’ hearts.

The Seamaster 30 was a subcategory of the line, introduced in 1962 as a basic, "entry-level" model with a manual-wind movement and no date function. This ref 135.007-64 is a gorgeous early example, featuring a grey "argyle" dial nestled within that iconic Seamaster case design. It was—and still is—a great way to get into the Omega game without spending a ton of cash.

CASE & BRACELET

The excellent stainless steel case exhibits minimal evidence of being previously polished in the past and shows full and even lugs with almost no signs of wear. The case retains its original "Omega" signed crown. The case back remains in wonderful condition displaying its original Seamaster printing. The watch comes supplied on a two-piece handmade leather strap.

DIAL & HANDS

The metallic grey "argyle" dial is both striking and exceptional in condition, with the diagonal hash marks creating a whole lot of light play. The tritium lume plots have achieved a charming creamy patina, exhibiting only nominal degradation when inspected under UV light. The original tritium hour hand matches the dial well, with the lume having fallen out of the original minute hand, which serendipitously exposes a bit more of that amazing dial as it moves.
