$ 15,350

The Rolex Submariner Reference 5513 is the embodiment of the classic dive watch. The 5513 is simple yet sophisticated and rugged. The ref. 5513 was first introduced in 1962 and ceased production in late 1989. The ref. 5513 is a purpose-built dive watch that lacks the date function like other Rolex Submariner models.

The depth rating began appearing on Submariner dials in late 1955 and was standard on all models by 1956. Early depth ratings were printed with the rating meters first, followed by the number in feet. This continued until early 1970 when Rolex made the switch to a feet-first depth rating, reportedly to appeal to the expanding US market.

CASE & BRACELET

The exceptionally crisp and robust case was recently professionally restored to present factory-like dimensions and finishing, boasting crisp brushing and chamfers down the thick, symmetrical lugs that show gentle signs of use. The original Mk II "Long 5" bezel insert is in superb original condition, remaining deep black in coloration with minimal signs of use present. The case retains its original 7mm twin-lock crown. The watch comes supplied on a later Rolex 93150 Oyster bracelet with 580 end pieces, the bracelet retains 11 links that show light stretch and will fit up to a 7 1/2-inch wrist.

DIAL & HANDS

The beautiful and original matte black dial is in impressive overall condition, showing no damage and with the only elements of age being invisible to the naked eye. The early "zinc sulfide" tritium lume plots are a handsome creamy color and remain full and round, showing a light texture but no actual degradation when inspected under U.V. light. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly, under U.V. light inspection the minute hand shows some very minimal lume loss and remains stable, the seconds and hour hand show no degradation.

ACCESSORIES

None. The watch is keeping time perfectly, backed by a 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
